San Gabriel Valley Cactus and Succulent Society

Description: This talk will look at the flowering plants of South Africa’s winter, focusing on some familiar and some rarely seen specimens and flowers.  The talk will start with a section on cultivation and encouragement of flowers.  Cultivation of winter growing plants is different from summer growers, and this year with no rain in the fall presents special challenges.

 

Short Bio Tom Glavich is a longtime grower of succulent plants. He is one of the co chairs of the Inter-City Cactus and Succulent Show, held the second weekend of August at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. Tom is a frequent contributor to CSSA publications and the author of the Beginner’s Guide series of articles and also numerous books on specific succulent species. Tom lives in Altadena and is a member of many of the Los Angeles area clubs.
